Synopsis
As Richard Miller of Sports Collector's Digest wrote, "In a moment, Pittsburgh's Three Rivers Stadium evaporated in a dramatic implosion. Gregory Spalding determined that the history of what happened in the stadium not evaporate." The first edition, a paperback, published in 2001 did a great job of chronicling the history. This second edition does a stupendous job. The new edition has 232 pages, 190 photos, trivia, unusual facts, a fan survey and much more. The photos include some very unique shots such as a Jim Leyland lineup card in the dugout; NFL HOF busts of Joe Greene, Terry Bradshaw and Franco Harris; NFL induction photos of Lynn Swann and John Stallworth; NFL HOF parade shots of Mike Webster and Terry Bradshaw; and the Cooperstown plaques of Willie Stargell and Roberto Clemente. The book features many very unique photos such as these. On top of that, Artist Bob Killcrece, a longtime fan of the Steelers, did some caricatures of Lynn Swann, Franco Harris and L.C. Greenwood for the book. This hardback edition will delight any Pittsburgh fan of any generation who saw the great moments at Three Rivers Stadium from 1970-2000, when Pittsburgh became the City of Champions.
