All in good condition. Lovely signed Bretano s bindings with delicate gilt tooling and dentelles. Leather remains soft and clean. A few nicks to the surface of leather with minor scuffing to tips and end bands. Top edges gilt. Inner gilt dentelles have toned the edges of the front fly leaves. Light toning to interiors with minimal foxing, if any. Brown silk book markers intact, albeit slightly frayed at the bottoms. Free of known markings. Bindings tight and intact. Please see photos. Violet Nicholson (1865-1904) otherwise known as Adela Florence Nicolson was an English poet who wrote under the pseudonym Laurence Hope. Her poems often used imagery and symbols from poets of the North-West Frontier of India and the Sufi poets of Persia. She was among the popular romantic poets of the Edwardian era.
