Thrive Rayas Dreaming (Paperback)

Paperback. With a vibrant ecosystem, microbial mats of many colors, Rayas holds one prize to barter. Last of the Diaspora worlds to be settled, the Rayas colony was unique. Privately funded by the California refugee community in Mexico, they couldn't bankroll the immense ships that each bore a quarter million souls to distant stars. And trained terraformers were long gone. Instead they sent kids to Rayas, age 10-16. They trained en route using an advanced learning AI, the Dream. Its graduates turned out a little.squirrelly. Captain Sass Collier, still lacking a spaceship, is offered the chance to found the Colony Corps Academy. As Chief Space Officer, Ben Acosta hopes to train crews cheaply and quickly on the promising Dream technology. First step, they visit Rayas to perform their due diligence. Sass's Lunar lover Gabe eagerly hosts as salesman in chief. The trip also gives Ben a chance to evaluate how Sass is coming along on her judgment calls. Because if Luna taught them anything.
