Thunderclouds with Paws: The Great Color-Changing Chase

A funny, tender picture-book adventure about three curious kittens who learn that every leap has a landing.

Soot is black as a soot-smudge and bold as a drumbeat. Smudge is dove-gray, dreamy, and always ready to follow. Snow is white, bright-eyed, and sensible-at least until something exciting scampers by.

One quiet morning, the three kittens promise their mother they will be careful.

"Look before you leap!" she tells them.

"Yes, Mama! We will be careful today!" they answer.

But then Millie the mouse appears. Then Freddie the frog. Then a flash of silver in the pond. Before long, the kittens are tumbling through flour, diving into soot, splashing into water, and discovering that the world is much bigger, messier, and funnier than they imagined.

With gentle humor, warm storytelling, and a classic read-aloud rhythm,

Thunderclouds with Paws: The Great Color-Changing Chase

follows three little adventurers through a day of mischief, surprise, and discovery. Along the way, Soot, Smudge, and Snow learn about curiosity, courage, helping one another, and the wisdom hidden inside a mother's simple warning.

A charming illustrated story for children ages 3-9 and for families who love kittens, cozy countryside adventures, and picture books with laughter, warmth, and a quiet lesson at the end.

Igor Arien writes children's books, family fantasy, literary fairy tales, and illustrated history. He came to storytelling by a roundabout path: trained as a scientist and engineer, he spent years on advanced aerospace systems and later on decades of technology innovation in Silicon Valley - until he found himself drawn to the questions instruments could not answer. The small, stubborn ones. How a character is formed. What makes someone brave. Why kittens never, ever look before they leap.Today he writes for readers of all ages, blending history, philosophy, and the warmth of a fairy tale. His stories tend to hide their bigger questions inside smaller adventures - a chase, a chimney, a very determined fish - trusting young readers, and the grown-ups reading beside them, to find the deeper thing on their own.He lives and writes in the Arizona desert, where the light is bright, the garden is imaginary, and there is always another story chasing something across it.
