The scope of this work is to investigate the interfacial interactions between the adsorbates and the TiO2 substrate, rather than bulk processes within the substrate or electrolyte. Konrad Schwanitz studied Mineralogy at the Philipps-University inMarburg, and Materials Science at the Pennsylvania StateUniversity and the University of Technology in Darmstadt. Thisdissertation has been accomplished in the Surface ScienceDivision in the Department of Materials Science of the Universityof Technology in Darmstadt.
