About the Authors

Ben Depp is an artist and National Geographic Explorer whose work centers on the environment. Using a powered paraglider and a nineteen-foot wooden sailboat to access remote parts of Louisiana, Depp documents coastal erosion from a new perspective.

Monique Verdin is an interdisciplinary storyteller, citizen of the Houma Nation, and director of The Land Memory Bank and Seed Exchange. She is currently working to support the Okla Hina Ikhish Holo, a network of indigenous southeastern gardeners, to grow food and medicine sovereignty in the lower Mississippi River Delta.
