Hand colored sporting engraving. 1 vols. 8-1/2 x 10-1/2 inches on a larger sheet (12-1/2 x 16 inches). This print reproduces an image of two anglers by a river from the noted British sportsman and illustrator Samuel Howitt (1765-1822), whose work includes the monumental color plate works Oriental Field Sports and British Field Sports. This print was privately printed by the Derrydale Press for the great New York sporting dealer Ernest R. Gee. Ordeman lists the print (edition and date unknown) but in correspondence has confirmed that he never saw it. Sparrow, British Sporting Artists, p. 164, describes Howitt s etchings and illustrative work as "spirited and entertaining". See also Siltzer, pp. 162-5. Never seen nor had.
