There comes a time in every life when the very bedrock of their inner being is threatened. This is a story of two such people who helped one another ford the floods of change. From somewhat disparate backgrounds, the commonality which they find is born of a profound sadness. There is an other life waiting for those who will live. It lays in a phone call, in a chance meeting, in a community event, at the market, the library, the bus stop. For these two people it was a class reunion. It is a lesson for all that there is always, waiting, An Other Time.

Penny Peirez Abrams was born, bred and educated in the N.E. USA. She was part of the first class at Brandeis University, '52. She has always been active in community affairs, particularly on behalf of civil liberties and women's rights. She successfully engaged in the battle against school prayer; for Red Cross visits to Israeli POW's; and changing the voting machines in Florida. After raising their three children, she and her husband lived in the Virgin Islands for 20 years, where she added sailing, SCUBA diving, writing and teaching to her community activities. She is now a resident of South-west Florida.
