Time of Decision With Rudolf Steiner: Experiences and Encounter

This fascinating recollection of the early days of the Anthroposophical Society offers a unique perspective on Rudolf Steiner's work and his relationship to his students.

Of particular interest to our readers will be the chapters on the Christmas Conference of 1923 for the foundation of the Anthroposophical Society. Hiebel attended the meeting, and his lively descriptions and warm style let those solemn events rise up again in our souls. He recreates the solemn, sacred mood of the laying of the Foundation Stone, and provides insights into the structure and meaning of the Foundation Stone verses.

Friedrich Hiebel (1903-1989) was born in Vienna. He studied German literature, history, and comparative linguistics. He learned of Rudolf Steiner's work in 1921. After graduation, he became a Waldorf school teacher before moving to the U.S. as a professor of German literature. In 1962, Mr. Hiebel was appointed to the executive committee of the General Anthroposophical Society.
