The Time of the Flood

Secrets will come flooding out...

Anna has lived in Carlton all her life, so when a flood hits, she is more than willing to do everything she can for the town and its residents. With the majority being of the older generation, she has her work cut out getting them to leave their homes, but the town pulls together to get everyone to safety, and Anna’s hard work means that no one goes without a warm bed and a hot meal. Despite the hard work, she's happy - and she isn’t going to complain about spending a little extra time with David, a childhood friend who she wishes could be something more.

What they don’t anticipate is the reunion of long forgotten acquaintances. Every single elderly person in the village is together for the first time, including recluse Libby Fenwick, who barely leaves her home. What secrets does this woman hold, and why does everyone seem so unsure of her?

Then there’s Willy McKenzie’s grandson. Is he as rude as he seems or is there a nicer person hidden beneath his miserable demeanour? Apart from damage and ruin, who knows what else the flood will bring?

This novella is a wonderful tale of new and old friendships, and the positive effects that can occur when a community comes together. This charming tale is perfect for fans of Rebecca Shaw, Kay Correll, and Pam Howes.
