An autobiography of Britain's foremost politician who, in his range of interests, in the brilliance of his mind, and in his ability to write is probably unique among figures in English public life. Healey grew up in Yorkshire and, after Oxford, joined the army at the outbreak of war. He became a Labour MP in 1952 and has been Minister of Defence and Chancellor.

From Publishers Weekly
Oxford graduate Healey, a leader of Britain's Labor Party for more than 40 years who narrowly missed becoming prime minister, presents a lucid account of many of today's major controversies, including nuclear disarmament and dealings with the Third World. In these "very expansive and gripping memoirs" according to PW , "Healey . . . offers extraordinarily interesting observations on American leaders and policies of the post-WW II period." Photos.
