They have no way of knowing how or why they're there; all they can do is try to get through the day. The siblings meet Rebecca, who needs to deliver a message of vital importance to General Washington. They also team up with a tavern-owner's son in order to escort Rebecca back to Philadelphia. Along the way, they deal with a spymaster, colonial deserters, and British soldiers who keep getting in the way. And they still have to figure out how to get back to their own time.NOTE: Based on review feedback, dialogue in this book has been edited for 'questionable' language. As of November, 2017.

From the Author
I love that sentiment, as it recognizes that most of us--and especially schoolkids--tend to roll our eyes when the subject of history comes up. It's in the past... it's over and done with... it's ancient history. And yet, if you suddenly found yourself at some point in history, the last thing it would be is dull and boring. Yes, it might even be dangerous! It's also true that no matter where a person lives, SOME history happened there, and sometimes we forget how interesting that history is. With this book--and the two other Timekeepers books that follow--I try to remind people that history has happened everywhere, and sometimes it takes an extraordinary event (like, maybe, time travel??) to remind us about what happened in our very own back yard.
