4 pages on two leaves, stapled in upper left corner. Substantial staining along later folds on both leaves. Wrinkling. Shipboard publication for a WWII Arcturus-class attack cargo ship. This issue of "The Trying Times" consists entirely of national (USA) and international news -- no shipboard content. The lead paragraph reports on the undeclared civil war along the Manchurian border between Chinese Communists and Nationalist Forces loyal to Chiang Kai-shek. At this time the USS Arcturus was busy delivering troops and equipment to China -- probably to aid the Nationalist Forces.
