Add to basketWhen Corbin Trevelyan first saw the natives pulling net loads of salmon from the river he knew that there was a business waiting to be developed. With his introduction to a can of corned beef The Trevelyan Cannery was born. It was the first salmon cannery on the Sacramento River and his success was soon copied.
Corbin's killing of Willard Hudson left his four with good reason to hate the Trevelyans and the cannery wars soon began. When Benjamin Trevelyan's father died he was facing a lot of guilt...guilt that put him on the run. The start of the War Between the States drew him in as an adventure but when it turned into a nightmare his commitment to keep his oath to his country kept him fighting.
General Scott played on that oath when he enlisted him to deliver a shipment of gold from California to Washington. The spies were active on both sides so no one must know of his mission and it was up to him alone to get the shipment past the eyes of the men watching for just such a delivery.
It was a dangerous mission carrying the gold but the thousand miles to the railhead at Cheyanne was a long and dangerous trip on its own. The promise to a dying man to see his granddaughter safely home added an extra worry to him as he worked his way through the mountains.
The girl was strong willed, and for him too beautiful to for him to ignore but his promise to get her home safely was one he would not break. The waring between the canneries was in full swing and Benjamin's was torn between his mission for General Scott, his country and his responsibility to his family.
I was born in Canada but spend much of my time roaming the Sonora Desert of Arizona, which is truly a place to inspire a writer.
I write in the Western genre inspired by the great Western writer Louis L'Amour. My stories are fiction with a mixture of real history and I hope you enjoy reading them.
