About the Author
Tina Turner was one of the world's most beloved performers, with a career spanning 60 years. She sold over 100 million albums worldwide and won 12 Grammys, including a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. She was a two-time inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and recipient of the Kennedy Center Honors award. After early success with hit songs such as "River Deep—Mountain High" and "Proud Mary," her well-publicized hardships and abusive marriage to fellow musician Ike Turner forced her to disappear from the music scene. In the late 1970s, she reemerged on the world stage after her divorce from Turner and rose up to recreate her career with a string of megahits including her 1984 album Private Dancer. Her life inspired the 1993 Academy Award-nominated film What's Love Got to Do with It and in 2018 she became the subject of the Broadway musical, Tina. Her powerful spiritual memoir, Happiness Becomes You, was published in 2020 and became a global bestseller. Tina peacefully passed away in May 2023 at her home in Switzerland.
