About this Item

Description:

There is a small corner crease, mild bumps to the other corners, and a half inch closed tear at bottom front. The spine is lightly rubbed but has a one inch split at bottom. Page 7 was used by a child to practice "B"s and "D"s in pen in a two inch circle. Last page has a drip stain at margin and a tiny cut at bottom, otherwise the pages are toned but clean. Sounds worse than it looks. Best known as the artist who did the Kellogg's Singing Lady and the creator of Snap, Crackle and Pop, his Flibbity Jibbett is very similar to Tinker Tim, though Tinker Tim precedes Flibbity by about nine years. His artwork is characterized by vibrant colors and whimsical characters. Seller Inventory # 000038

Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. Grant, Vernon (illustrator). 1st Edition. Grant, Vernon. TINKER TIM THE TOYMAKER (code no. 2041). Racine, Wisconsin: Whitman Publishing Company, (1934). FIRST EDITION. 4to - 12" x 9-1/2". Color pictorial paper covered boards with light wear to the bottom edge of the back cover for what is otherwise a near pristine copy of the book. Color pictorial dust wrapper with a minute touch of wear to the head and tail of spine and two short tears, one 1/4" long and one 1/2" long, to the top edge of the back panel for what is a beautiful copy of the wrapper. Full color pictorial endpapers. 29 pp. This is a fantasy tale about a young boy named Buzz who is guided on an adventure through "Behind-the-Clouds-Town" by a "strange little fellow" named Skoot. The story is illustrated with twelve full color drawings by Grant; nine full page and three half page. Vernon Grant was the creator of Snap, Crackle and Pop, the cartoon mascots of Kellogg's Rice Krispies breakfast cereal. Stylistically speaking, the drawings within Tinker Tim are similar to the drawings of the original cartoon mascots who had made their debut the previous year. The condition of both the book and the dust wrapper is NEAR FINE. SCARCE in the dust wrapper. Seller Inventory # 000676
