This book was prepared over the many years (30 to be exact) of my working in school administration. There are many ways that a teacher can be promoted to the assistant principalship and I hope this book will be helpful to the reader. Often teachers see the assistant principal as a position that gets them out of the classroom and will fatten their wallet at the same time. Both can be true but the roles and responsibilities of the assistant principal may not be for every teacher. Are you sure that there is a significant increase in pay for the time and aggravation that comes with the job? Do you want to work with student discipline and irate parents a large part of your day?
