Paperback large wide octavo, good condition, stapled pamphlet, card covers, maps, spine creased, covers & corner tips little creased (few light marks, little rubbed), fore-edge crease (possible bookmark), small mark title page, some edgewear, rubber stamp reverse side title page, . 24 pp. Peter Forrest gives an outline of the history of Tiwi Islander contact with European navigators, with a special reference to the Tiwi encounter with Dutch seafarers in 1705. This booklet describes the circumstances which brought together Tiwi and the Dutch. The contact had profound effects on Australian history, but has been largely neglected in Australian historical and Indigenous studies.
