Toby and the Love That Stayed: A Story about Grief, Love, and Remembering

Toby has always known what it means to be loved.

For most of his life, Toby went everywhere with his person. They shared ordinary days, little adventures, and the kind of love that makes a life feel safe and full.

But when Toby’s person is no longer there, everything feels different.

Through Toby’s eyes, Toby and the Love That Stayed gently explores grief, remembering, and the surprising truth that love doesn’t disappear when someone we love is gone.

With the help of his Mama, Toby begins to understand that love can stay in the stories we tell, the memories we carry, and the people who help us find our way forward.

Written for children ages 4 and up, this tender story offers families a gentle way to talk about loss without trying to explain grief away or rush through it. It reminds children, and the grown-ups reading beside them, that sadness and joy can exist together...and that the love we have shared becomes part of us forever.

For anyone who has ever loved someone enough to miss them.
