Originally copyrighted in 1880, this 1923 edition contains the code "1-X" below the 1923 date of publish. Likely sixth printing if earlier editions were unchanged. Black clothbound without a dustjacket. Exterior is lightly bumped with well preserved embossed lettering on spine and an adhered colored illustration on front cover. Top and bottom of spine have heavier bumps/light rips to cloth. This illustration has light wear but is highly presentable with great color. The same illustration appears as the frontis plate - it too is well preserved. Interior is lightly foxed but very clean. Binding is solid but for a handful of pages (103-107) which have seperated from binding but are intact and included. Numerous ink drawings are throughout text and are clear. Book for age is highly presentable, less valuable for normal reading.
