Possible letter from About on front fly leaf dated from July 24th 1872, Paris signed E . Letter describes who Tolla was. Fly leaf is chipped. Light toning to text block, unmarked. Binding tight and intact. Please see photos. Edmond Francois Valentin About was a French novelist, publicist and journalist. He made his name as an entertaining anti-clerical writer. This work, first published in 1855, is the story of a young Parisian actress, gave rise to charges of drawing too freely on an earlier Italian novel, Victoria Savelli (1841).
