Despite the British bias and the author's ready admission that certain categories (populations, sporting records, movie/music entries, award winners, etc.) become instantly if not annually outdated, his treatment of popular-culture tidbits is as accurate as can be expected. The wide range of categories reported spans from the natural sciences (the Earth, universe, and human body), to entertainment (music, stage, radio, sports, and travel).
