Toponymics or Derivations From Local Names in English: Studies in Word-Formation and Contributions to English Lexicography (Classic Reprint)

Excerpt from Toponymics or Derivations From Local Names in English: Studies in Word-Formation and Contributions to English Lexicography

This book is a humble tribute to the memory of Erik Bj'o'rkman, late Professor of English at this University. His teaching as well as his brilliant personal qualities evoked in me the interest for English philological studies. From him I received the kindest and most encouraging guidance during my years of study and I owe to him many valuable suggestions for this work.

To Doc. Arvid Gabrielson I am also grateful for friendly and helpful advice and criticisms during the final prepar ation of this book, as well as for the interest he has Shown me during all my studies.
