Large Russian Torah Pointer. Yad. Silver with hallmarks: 84; BV and [?] Length of Yad (without the ring at the end: 30 cm. (11.75 inches). Weight: c. 2.5 ounces. Mid-19th century. Cylindrical upper shaft followed by spiral unit punctuated by C-scroll design motifs; terminating in hand with extended pointed finger. Marked: Assayer Aleksander Ilyich Yashinkov, St. Petersburg. Decorated with neo-classical design. I misplaced the chain. Length of Yad (without the ring at the end: 30 cm. The 17 cm. section that has the finger is mid-19th century. The other section is earlier and is Russian or from the territories that were held by Russia. The 84 mark is ?correct? So this is a made up piece.
