(McGraw, 1987) illustrates, free of scientific jargon, how memory works and presents specific techniques to facilitate recall. The approach is unique because it provides recommendations based on scientific studies underway at the Department of Psychiatry at Stanford University's School of Medicine. With these results in mind, the author emphasizes training the memory and introduces the concept of prevention in the process of recall. The book is structured around five chapters that answer over 100 questions, listed and numbered within each chapter. Explanations are concise and easy to understand and suggestions are practical. Results of the scientific study are craftily woven into the answers, arousing the desire to know more. A miniglossary explains some of the more difficult terms, along with a helpful introduction and foreword. A worthwhile purchase for popular reading collections.
