Touchpaper: 'Parallel Realm' Book 1 (The Parallel Realm series)

An immersive urban fantasy with a fun twist on legendary and mythological creatures.

Drew Macleod must rapidly learn to wield galdr—magic inherited, bargained for, and barely understood. Drawn into a world hidden in plain sight he is hunted through Edinburgh’s ancient closes, aided by an eclectic cast including a grumpy daemon, a dweorg artisan a feisty herbalist and Garm—an ancient being who chooses to manifest as a small, sarcastic dog.

This action-filled tale highlights the value of friendship, resilience and sheer bloody-mindedness as Drew defends himself and protects his friends from a hidden and escalating threat.

David Dodds weaves together urban fantasy with rich historical and mythological elements, adding a dash of steampunk and a touch of coziness, all set against the atmospheric backdrop of Edinburgh, creating a truly original reading experience.

‘Touchpaper’ is perfect for lovers of Ben Aaronovich’s ‘Rivers of London’,  Jim Butcher’s ‘The Dresden Files’ and Neil Gaiman’s ‘Neverwhere’
