1812. Second Edition. 276 pages. Rebound in late 19th-century half-leather with marbled paper-covered boards. This is the second edition of Syntax's first tour. Note: contains hand-coloured frontispiece and hand coloured vignette on title page (both by Thomas Rowlandson) but no internal plates are present. Pages are rather marked with pronounced tanning and foxing (sometimes heavy), plus mild thumbing. Slight gutter cracking. Binding is firm. Mild liquid stains and thumbing to front matter, including frontis. Notable creasing and minor marking throughout. Block edges have been speckled by binder, and have some dust marks. Boards have some edge wear, with pronounced bumping and peeling to corners and edges. Spine ends are crushed and rubbed with minor loss. Rather scratched, rubbed and marked overall, most emphatically to the leather sections. Mild cracking to joints. Gilt lettering remains clear.
