About the Author

Priscilla Spears was a microbiologist before she turned to science education. For over a decade she has written for the Montessori education system at the elementary and secondary levels. She has addressed topics from astronomy to zoology, but as one can tell from this book, her special love is botany. Priscilla participates in Montessori teacher training at several education centers and presents science updates at teacher conferences. Her books for elementary and secondary teachers include Plant Lessons and From the Biosphere to Atoms. Her major goal is improving science literacy and helping people understand how the world works, especially the living parts of it.
