Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. 4to hardcover. Orange boards with title in white on spine. Illustrated dust wrapper. ; Color Plates. 58pp. Scenes from the gold mining town of Ravenswood-originally named 'Top Camp'- in North Queensland, Australia as depicted by artists Denis Hardy & Peter Lawson. The full-color/full-page paintings begin in 1869 with 'Off to the Diggins' by Lawson and continue through the town's decline in 1912('Macrossan Street 1912' also by Lawson) when the area was 'played out' and a crippling strike divided the town into two camps. Scenes rendered include significant buildings, landscapes, mining equipment, cottages and more. All paintings-31 total- are full page.
