Copper engraved map on laid paper, uncoloured. Two maps on one sheet, separated horizontally; two cartouches on upper part, distance scale on lower part. Imprint at lower right: Exc:Guiljel:Blaeuw. Plate size is 50.5cm x 39cm, on a sheet measuring 64cm x 54.5cm. Text on verso is in Dutch, headings are Batavia / Gelre. Tailpiece on verso. Page number on verso is 33, signature mark Gg. Old paper tape label at centre top, old stain to upper left margin, scattered foxing, a nice clean copy. Probably from the Dutch edition of the atlas: Theatrum Orbis Terrarum sive Atlas Novus / Volume II, published by Willem and Joan Blaeu, [1635-1655]. [Dutch title: Toonneel // des Aerdrycks, // ofte // Nievwe Atlas, // Dat is // Beschryving // van alle Landen; // Nu nieulycx uytgegeven, // Door // Wilhelm: en Iohannem Blaeu.
