Trading Questions

Every year more than 40,000 eager, young Latter-day Saint men and women are sent into the world from the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah. What might you do or say if missionaries showed up at your front door presenting you with The Book of Mormon?

Trading Questions can help. It is written to equip and encourage you to have thoughtful, biblical and compassionate engagements with the young men and women at your doorstep.

Drawing on Watchman Fellowship's decades of ministerial wisdom and experience engaging with Latter-day Saints, Trading Questions features twenty individual conversations, each beginning with a question either you can ask the missionaries or one they will likely ask you. These questions are what Watchman considers to be long-standing and essential points of difference between traditional Christianity and the Latter-day Saint faith. Each section helps you better understand the deeper context of the missionaries' questions and provides a simple, easy-to-understand background of LDS beliefs and practices from a solidly biblical perspective. If you are only superficially familiar with LDS beliefs, Trading Questions is a perfect place to begin.

The goal of Trading Questions is not to prepare you to win arguments with missionaries or other Latter-day Saints, but to help you speak the truth about the Gospel to them in love, with gentleness, reverence, and compassion.

Brady Blevins is the Senior Apologist for Watchman Fellowship. He has been married to his wife, Jennifer, for over 25 years, and they have three children: Drew, Madison, and Jett. He earned his doctorate from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and has served as both a college professor and a pastor for more than 20 years.

Daniel Ray is a Staff Apologist for Watchman Fellowship. He holds a master's degree from Houston Christian University and is the co-author and editor of The Story of the Cosmos: How the Heavens Declare the Glory of God. Daniel also serves as the primary host of Watchman Fellowship's podcast, Apologetics Profile.

James K. Walker is the President of Watchman Fellowship and a former fourth-generation Mormon. He holds a master's degree from Criswell College and is the author of The Concise Guide to Today's Religions and Spirituality, What the Qur'an Really Teaches About Jesus, and The Truth Behind the Secret.
