The Trail of Death: Letters of Benjamin Marie Petit

""The Trail of Death: Letters of Benjamin Marie Petit"" is a book written by Irving McKee. The book is a collection of letters written by Benjamin Marie Petit, a French missionary, during his journey with the Potawatomi tribe on the Trail of Death in 1838. The Trail of Death was a forced relocation of the Potawatomi tribe from Indiana to Kansas, which resulted in the death of hundreds of people due to harsh conditions and disease. Petit's letters provide a first-hand account of the atrocities committed during the relocation, including the suffering of the Potawatomi people and the indifference of the government officials involved. The book also includes an introduction by McKee, providing historical context and background information on Petit's life and work.
