Trailing in the Fog (Paperback)

Paperback. Born in the last golden years of pre-revolution Iran, Simorgh Azardad came into a world of poetry, pride, and ancient royalty - and watched it burn. Trailing in the Fog is the sweeping, unflinching memoir of a woman who survived the collapse of a nation and the shattering of a childhood, and found her way, decades and continents later, into the light.Spanning three generations - from her grandmother's turbulent marriage in a small northern Iranian town to her parents forbidden love to her own coming-of-age amid the chaos of the 1979 revolution and the Iran-Iraq War - this is a story of inherited secrets, violated innocence, and the quiet, ferocious will to survive. Azardad writes of first love and first betrayal, of missiles falling on childhood streets, of a desperate escape through Istanbul, and of rebuilding a life from nothing on Canadian soil. But Trailing in the Fog is more than a survivor's story - it's a reckoning with identity, sexuality, and belonging, and ultimately, a testament to forgiveness. Raw, lyrical, and deeply personal, this memoir carries the weight of history and the voice of a woman who finally chose to stop being silent. For readers of unflinching memoirs of trauma, immigration, and reinvention - a story of ashes, exile, and the long walk home.
