An amusing relic of student life at Carnegie Mellon University in the early 1900's, then known as Carnegie Tech. The front is a photo reproduction of a line drawing showing seven students traversing a snowy bridge together and truing to keep warm with the caption, "A TRAIN OF THOUGHT FROM CARNEGIE TECH. Solution of Thermodynamics Problem: Minimizing Heat Losses due to Radiation etc. by operating the Prime Movers Compound and Condensing". On the back is a handwritten note in pencil that reads, "It has been several years since you experienced the cold damp winds peculiar to the east and perhaps you never had to cross a long high bridge over a deep hollow every day. C.T.S. is inaccessible & most students [?] over the bridges. This indicates a popular expedient in the way of meeting the elements, during stormy winter days". Measures approx. 5" by 3.5, may be trimmed. Good to very good. Light toning.
