De Boubers, A Paris, 1782, 320 pp, 338 pp, 260 pp, half leather, 180 plates, 8.5 x 5.5 , 8vo. In good condition. Masterfully rebound in contemporary bindings by Waterstreet Bindery in Lancaster, PA. Binders notes, The old lining and glue were removed. New jaconet hinges were sewn on. The volumes are lined with 200gms acid free paper and cloth rolled endbands. They are covered in Sokoto goatskin and goat lettering pieces. The boards are covered with Restauro marbled paper and the corners of the boards are covered with hidden cloth corners. Tooling in blind and 22k. Interiors are well preserved with general age-related toning. Free of significant foxing. Light water staining to first 15 leaves of volume one at edge. Originally published in 1768 in two quarto volumes. Duhamel de Monceau was a polymath and member of the Academie des Sciences. He is best known for his contributions to the literature of agronomy and arboriculture. His treatise provides general directions on grafting and pruning, and detailed descriptions of particular types of fruit trees.
