Boyer naquit à Uzerche en 1757. Il fut un disciple de Desault. Il pratiqua pendant de nombreuses années à l'Hopital de la Charité. En l'An XII (1803) Napoléon le nomma son premier médecin. Il mourut en 1833 By Boyer, Alexis (1757-1833) A tailor's son from Limousin who rose to be imperial surgeon to Napoleon. He was professor of anatomy in Paris and wrote Du Corps Humain in four volumes in 1802. His surgical works, contained a description of subhyoid bursa (Boyer cyst) Rare Medical and Science books from Anton Sebastian Private Collection presented for sale by Antiques International.
