AI and the Transformation of Professional Translation:: From Automation to Ethical Human Oversight

This book is a grounded book discussing the practical application of AI in professional translation, arguing that AI is not simply a tool for technological automation; rather, they are tools of informed, critically mediated human–machine cooperation. Although AI-based tools can have the potential to dramatically increase speed, productivity and operational efficiency, the translation role of these tools depend on linguistic proficiency, cultural appropriateness, ethical awareness, and critical judgment of the translator when employing the technologies in question. In conclusion, this means that the responsible work with AI is essential and addresses the key questions concerned with reliability, algorithmic bias, confidentiality, authorship, data governance and professional accountability.
