The transmission and its associated assemblies are presented in detail, providing a clear understanding for training and practical applications. Other components of the drivetrain such as the propeller shaft, the clutch and the retarder are also discussed.

About the Author

Dr. Michael Hilgers currently is a senior manager for powertrain testing at Daimler Truck in Stuttgart. Before that he headed a Daimler Truck testing center in China, was head of a CAE department for Mercedes-Benz Trucks and was responsible for a department in mechatronic development at Mercedes-Benz Trucks.
