Item description from seller

8vo. vi, [1], 177 p.p., [2]. Blue cloth boards with gilt titling to spine. Bumping to spine ends, otherwise a fine copy. Dust jacket is slightly sunned at spine and edges, bumping to spine ends, a few chips to spine head and a spot of rubbing to front cover. B&W illustrations. Foxing to edges of text block but interior is clean. A study of aphasia [impaired language, affecting reading, writing and speech as a result of a brain injury]. During and after the second world war, over 1100 cases of missle wound of the brain were studied in detail from the Military Hospital for Head Injuries, and these included over 250 patients rendered aphasic by the injury. The problems of cerebral dominance in right and left handers are fully explored, while the relationships between speech and mental disorders, such as amnesia, lead to a discussion of many facets of cerebral activity.
