This book is the product of his extensive study and research on Travancore inscriptions. There were many who offered their expertise in order to facilitate an improved understanding of the heritage of the state. He is perhaps a lesser known name amongst them. However, his contribution towards the field of archaeology remains matchless. This book is an academic list of hundreds of inscriptions found in the Region of Travancore (now a part of Kerala). About the Author:-R. Vasudeva Poduval was born in 1896 and died in 1978. He is perhaps a lesser known name amongst them. However, his contribution towards the field of archaeology remains matchless. In 1928, Poduval was appointed as Government Archaeologist by Dewan M.E. Watts, and in 1936 he rose to the position of Superintendent of Archaeology in Travancore state.Poduval became the Director of Archaeology in 1947. Under him, the department adopted scientific methods and technologies in excavation. The departmental activities were compartmentalised into excavation, conservation, and research, with due importance given to all sections. After his retirement in 1954, he took up an assignment as Labour Welfare Secretary, Gemini Studios. In 1957, he became Special Officer in charge of the Sri Chitralayam, and in 1958 he was nominated to the Travancore Dewasom Board by Sree Chithira Tirunal.
