Synopsis
Are you road worthy to drive in Costa Rica? Whether or not you had read our first book, Traveling On Land With the Boat Bums: Questions and Answers: Traveling Costa Rica, we sure hope you are ready to travel with us, Bob and Debby, on our own road tour of Costa Rica. Since our road tour has evolved over 10 years, we hope that when you join us, we can help you create your own Costa Rican adventure. Our tour is loaded with friendly advise derived from our own adventures and misadventures in Cosrta Rica on trips with friends and family. Travel the scenic roads with us to the tourist "hot spots" or not so touristy spots that just might be your "cup of tea or coffee." We have included some of our own photographs to punctuate the journey with informative and illustrative pictures that might resonate with you so as to guide you in creating your own tour. We have played "Twenty Questions"with our family and friends for years in order to try and determine what they might be interested in seeing and doing in the short time that they have in Costa Rica. The tour that we share with you is the compilation of the places and activities that our visitors enjoyed and remembered. Needless to say, I was surprised that some of our guests enjoyed extreme zip lining and parasailing so we've made it a point to include opportunities for many different types of excursions on our tour. Even if you have small children, we have included destinations that delight the little ones as well as the adults. Even though I've included travel directions, don't be afraid of being a little lost since you will most likely find unexpected and interesting places. Even if you only have a week or ten days, we guarantee that you will have experienced a good sampling of what Costa Rica has to offer. Also, we hope you will be like our friends, Nancy and Terry, and keep returning for more adventure.
About the Author
Bob and Debby McLaughlin have both been retired for over ten years, traveling the world and living part of the year in Costa Rica and part in California. Bob is a retired propmaker for the Motion Picture Industry. Also, he has a background in nursing and business, and is an avid photographer. Debby is a retired teacher with a masters in T.E.S.O.L (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), she has her teaching credential and has taught elementary school for over 20 years along with Community College part time. She speaks fluent Spanish and has been a free lance writer for various magazines. She first traveled to Costa Rica to visit her son who taught in Puntarenas for a year. When she and Bob met in 2005 at a Parrot Head (Jimmy Buffet fans) Christmas party, they discovered that they had both visited this amazing country and wanted to return. In 2006, they traveled to Costa Rica, found the small fishing village of Playas del Coco on the Pacific northwest side of Costa Rica, and got married at their lawyer's office while purchasing their condo. Now, after ten years of living, traveling, and giving tours in Costa Rica for family and friends, they want to share their experiences so others can get the most out of their time in Costa Rica and learn to appreciate it as they do.
