TRAVELING ON THE RUN is a guide for the business or leisure traveler who wants to stay fit while away from home. The book covers 70 US and 23 International cities and features maps with hotels, landmarks, and running routes.
The hotels were chosen with the business traveler in mind and are near the convention centers and financial districts. The running routes were recommended by local runners and provide safe and interesting routes of 5 to 8 miles. Also included are hotel phone numbers, costs, fitness facilities, running clubs and running retailers, major races and emergency phone numbers.
Training articles by Joe Henderson and Jeff Galloway, two of the best known and highly respected runners, trainers and authors are also included in the book.
STEWART SIMS grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, went to Cornell University and graduated from Columbia University after serving in the Marine Corps. He received his MBA from Harvard University and began his business career in 1970 marketing coffee at General Foods. In 1977 he began to run and travel. He ran the New York Marathon in 1978 and again in 1980. He began his international running while working on Rubic's Cube in Hungary for the Ideal Toy Corporation. He's been running all over the world ever since.
BARBARA WEINTRAUB SIMS, a native New Yorker, is a graduate of Columbia University. Her career has been in dance therapy, arts management and marketing. While she is not a runner, she maintains that she always ran fast enough for Stewart to catch her. Barbara and Stewart have been married for 29 years and currently reside in Wilmette, Illinois. They have two grown children, Andrew and Emily.
