The tragedy on September 11, 2001, killed many and hurt many more.

One of the people killed was David Sylvester's lifelong friend, and to make sense of that senseless moment and make the world a happier place, he jumped on his bicycle and began connecting with people.

Initially, David thought he was just going to bicycle across the United States.

But, after seeing how his story was inspiring and motivating others, he went on to bicycle Africa, Asia, and North America once more.

Now, ten years later, David shares his story.


Traveling at the Speed of life isn't a travelogue about what David saw on his bicycle trips. Instead, it's a memoir about how what he saw and experienced changed him and his outlook on the world.

Growing up, David always had a willingness to participate in any activity that came his way, "just for the experience of it all." Initially, his experience hunting, free spiritedness drove David to become an accomplished athlete but he later used that learned will and discipline to bicycle across continents, write numerous articles, volunteer at charities nationwide, make an award-winning documentary, become an author and high5 people all over the planet. Whether it's in a gym with a personal training client, motivating audiences at universities or simply in a café you can find David smiling and making friends.
