A scholarly Porter & Coates edition of Swift's Gulliver's Travels, presented under its original title: Travels into Several Remote Nations of the World, by Lemuel Gulliver, First a Surgeon and then a Captain of Several Ships, in Four Parts. With copious notes and a Life of the Author by W.C. Taylor, LL.D., of Trinity College, Dublin (1800?1849). Taylor's annotated editions of classic texts are respected scholarly productions, and the inclusion of his Life of Swift adds biographical and historical context not found in plain-text editions.

Binding: Brown/tan decorated cloth over boards. Spine: elaborate Victorian decorative panel combining gilt and dark navy blue ? gilt 'GULLIVER'S TRAVELS' in an ornate badge lettering on the left portion; large decorative panel of floral and botanical motifs with central urn/vase in gilt and navy on the right portion; gilt decorative borders at head and tail. A visually striking Victorian gift-book binding. Significant fraying and unraveling of cloth at both head and tail of spine ? the primary exterior condition issue; mid-spine decoration largely intact. Front board: brown/tan cloth with dark navy blue decorative border (ornate corner pieces and mid-border ornaments); 'Gulliver's Travels' in navy on board face; scuffing and light soiling to board surface; corner fraying.
