Drugs become a major issue in the small community, when the line between legal and illegal disappears.

In the midst of trying to survive nature's attacks on the compound, Carter and Jess accidentally run across well-armed men bent on their destruction. However, the citizens face a much worse problem. There are those within their own community who are poisoning their food to cause death and suffering. All this, while Jess is torn between her desire to become a doctor and the necessity to kill.
