Second edition. Boards soiled and rubbed, front free endpaper removed, 1 inch chip from bottom corner of single leaf (pp. 43/44), lightly foxed, a few plates toned. Three sheets on photographic paper showing currency and engravings associate with its production laid in. 1865 Hard Cover. iv, 51, [1], 20 pp. 8vo. Five engraved plates, in-line engraved illustrations. This second edition, published in the year the Secret Service was established to combat counterfeiting, includes additional plates and a 20-page article on the American Bank Note Company not present in the original 1858 edition.
