This is a new edition, revised and improved by W. Lewis, of the study of the game originally published in 1808 in 2 volumes. This edition is complete and is, internally, in very good condition. Sadly, the state of the binding renders this copy, only, as "Fair" because it is in need of a complete rebind. The binding is detached from the text block on the top hinge where it would appear that an early "repair" has come away and rendered the hinge to be very fragile. Little or no foxing. The last blank page has a contemporary move by move description of a game neatly written.
