About The Book: The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil (1854) by Joshua Hall McIlvaine explores theological and philosophical themes, focusing on the biblical story of the Fall of Man. McIlvaine examines the moral implications of Adam and Eve's decision to eat from the forbidden tree, offering insights into the nature of good and evil, human free will, and divine sovereignty. He reflects on the consequences of disobedience and the role of knowledge in understanding God's will. Through this work, McIlvaine seeks to reconcile faith with reason, addressing the complexities of sin, redemption, and divine justice in Christian doctrine.
