About the Author

Antonio Rodr�guez Almod�var (Alcal� de Guadaira, Sevilla 1941), es un escritor de una larga trayectoria literaria. Catedr�tico de Lengua y Literatura Espa�ola, es autor de m�s de cuarenta obras. Cultiva casi todos los g�neros: desde la novela al ensayo, pasando por el teatro, la poes�a, el cuento infantil, el guion televisivo, la cr�tica literaria y las colaboraciones period�sticas, principalmente en el diario El Pa�s. Es de destacar su dedicaci�n al estudio, recuperaci�n y divulgaci�n de los cuentos populares espa�oles (Cuentos al amor de la lumbre, I y II). Su labor literaria ha sido reconocida a lo largo de los a�os con distintos premios, como el Nacional de Literatura Infantil y Juvenil 2005, por El bosque de los sue�os; el Internacional de Narrativa Juvenil Infanta Elena 1991, por Un lugar parecido al Para�so; o el Ateneo de Sevilla de Relatos 2004, por El hombre que se volvi� relativo. Entre 1969 y 1973 fue profesor de la Universidad de Sevilla, de la que fue apartado por su activa participaci�n en la lucha antifranquista. Fue director de la revista Dem�filo, de cultura popular, continuadora de la que fundara Antonio Machado y �lvarez. Tambi�n dirigi� los trabajos de transcripci�n y estudio de los manuscritos de Machado que adquiri� Unicaja en 2003. En 2016 fue elegido acad�mico correspondiente de la Real Academia Espa�ola.
