Small 4to. 165pp. Bound in red half-calf & cloth, spine lettered in gilt. Gray end papers. Slight wear to title leaf, a clean and very good copy. Preliminary and final blank leaves contain pen notes, apparently listing publications relating to the case. The pagination skips pages 93-96, as seen in other copies; nothing is missing. A famous case which saw several contemporary editions published in London, Edinburgh, Dublin, and possibly Boston. Calvert was a notorious scoundrel. He was acquitted in this case, but dogged by scandal until he died of fever in Naples at the age of 40.
